COBRA and Continuation of Health Coverage

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA) provides qualified retirees, spouses, employees, former spouses, and dependent children with rights to temporarily continue receiving health coverage at a group rate. COBRA enforces these rules when qualifying circumstances or events occur.

Group health plans that are required to abide by COBRA requirements are those with 20 or more employees on 50% or more business days in the previous calendar year.

If you are interested in determining if your organization is eligible for COBRA coverage, allow our experienced agents at SCH&A to assist.
